ATLANTA - JUNE 11, 2010 - iShake LLC, an info-tainment company focused on lifestyle and entertainment software applications for mobile and Web-based technology, today announced that its challenge to the 21st Century Leaders at G5! @ Goizueta was answered today. Seventy-five high school students from across the State of Georgia participated in a business case competition this week, which wrapped up today with the participants presenting their ideas to the iShake executive team.
In its second year, the G5! @ Goizueta is a one-week summer leadership program that was made possible through the partnership of 21st Century Leaders, Atlanta's Top 40 Under 40 and the Goizueta Business School. From June 6-11, 2010, these selected high school students stayed on Emory University's campus for leadership and personal development workshops, business and industry tours, roundtable discussions, networking and the business case competition.
The competition was kicked off on Monday, June 7th when Doreen Linneman, chief executive officer of iShake, issued the challenge to the students, who competed on nine teams. Focusing solely on iShake's shakedate, shakejoke and shakesmoothie iPhone applications, the students were asked to develop and present specific recommendations on how iShake could increase downloads and maintain an active user base. The teams made their presentations on Friday, June 11th.
"In order to properly cultivate the next generation of Georgia leaders, our goal has always been to develop, inspire and nurture students with leadership potential," said Bob Watson, executive director of 21st Century Leaders. "This year we decided that we also needed to really challenge the students, so we asked iShake to develop a business case competition. For many of our students, this was their first opportunity to provide consulting services to a real-life company and present their recommendations to an executive panel."
"Working with these high school leaders was a fantastic learning experience for both parties," said Linneman. "The students got a taste of what it's like working for a start-up in a dynamic and fast-moving space and iShake was wowed by the students' abilities and presentations. Our team is now armed with some very creative recommendations that we plan to execute this year."
